The Sniper's Guide To Excellence
This is the guide for the sniper that wants more kills. There are 2 sections, the first on making your sniper class, the second on choosing a location, the third on getting a kill. I hope this helps you! Part 1: The Class Okay. The average CoD4 player will have a sniper class. The sniper's job, I quote as accurately as possible is to "get behind enemy lines and wreak havoc." Well, that is hard to do on this game, so we'll go with option number 2- sit at a couple spots and rack up kills. Sounds simple, right? Well, you should live by three major rules. (1)Looks and (2)smells can be deceiving, and (3)don't take everything someone writes or types as simple. Let's get back on track and to the class, shall we? The Rifle* This is the heart and soul of a sniper. There are 2 types of sniper rifles- Semi-auto and bolt-action. I will give the list of what I think are the best and worst (in that order) of that category. Semi-Automatic 1. M21(M14 With a Scope). I am very partial to this gun because it's not as loud as the Barry, fires the same amount of rounds, and it is essentially an M14 with a sniper rifle scope on it. 2.Dragunov(Makes Me Feel Russian). The most controversial rifle here, but hey, it's Russian. I'm not being racist or ethicist, but Russian stuff is almost always controversial when it involves weapons. Some people think this gun is horrible, others think it rocks. Personally, I think it's OK. It's fun to use with an RPD or AK and the RPGs. 2 1/2. Barret .50 Caliber(Barry). This gun has no drawbacks except one. The highly loud, pleasing bang that you hear after the bullet leaves brings attention to where you are. Now, who wants to tell Infinity Ward to make an official patch that gives you silencers for your sniper rifles? Anybody? No? Dang. Bolt-Action 1.M40A3-More ammo means more kills. More kills means more EXP. More EXP means you level faster. Also, this is the most readily available sniper with a not-that-bad class(look at the top 5 classes). 2.R700-Well, this gun is only better in one way than the other-it has more power. So what? Unless you are a soft-core nambi-pambi, it doesn't matter. Also, NEVER attach the ACOG sight to the bolt action rifles, because you cannot steady the rifle. However, depending on the intended use of your class, it can be useful. The Perks These perks are the ones that I would consider for a Sniper. Perk 1- Claymore x2- ONLY USE THIS PERK!!!! Perk 2- Overkill- For Assassin classes. The secondary weapon has to be silenced for a better assassin. Stopping Power- If you are playing SoftCore(Normal mode). UAV Jammer- Lets you stay invisible until you shoot. Perk 3- Iron Lungs- Useless! Extreme Conditioning- For getting around places. Deep Impact- For getting through the walls. Last Stand- Usually frowned upon, but nevertheless legitimate. Well now, write down what you choose as your own preferences, choose a special grenade, and let's work on actually how to snipe. Part 2- The Location Well now, you now have your fancy sniper class that I helped make for you. Right? Anyways, let's help you set up shop. Indoors This is called Coleman Sniping by me, after someone made a joke about people camping in-game and Coleman camping gear ("Let's pull out the Coleman tents people, we're camping!" or something like that). It is effective on the maps where Ghillie suits aren't used or are worthless. You get in an area with TWO OR MORE OPEN VIEWS,only 2 doors/entrances at max, and plant 1 claymore at the entrances. Pull out your sniper rifle, and get to work. Outdoors This is harder to do, and should NOT be attempted by people that don't realize Woodland Camouflage doesn't go with a light gray wall. You need to be able to move quickly from one patch of grass to another quickly. You press ctrl in an area of grass that you can see from but they cant see you in. Take a maximum of 3 shots, wait five seconds, and then run like the devil to a different patch of grass. And a bit on shooting- Unless you know you can make the hit, hold your fire. If you miss, go prone INSTANTLY and get back into another area that is somewhat safe. Fast. *See more here about the sniper rifles! |
