Food Fun and Facts Recipe for Anne's Favorite Brownies

Anne's Favorite Brownies Recipe

Ingredients:

1 cup sugar, (granulated)
3 tablespoons butter softened-unsalted)
2 eggs (large)
2 oz of melted unsweetened chocolate
1-1/2 cups flour(unbleached white)
1 teaspoon vanilla (real)
1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Place your sugar in a large bowl. Add the butter and mix well.

In small bowl, beat your 2 eggs until light and add the beaten eggs to the sugar and butter mixture. Blend well until creamy. Add the melted chocolate and mix well.

Add flour and stir till all flour is mixed in. Add the vanilla and nuts and mix. Place in a greased, floured square pan and bake for 20 minutes at 350 degrees.

I have also made the brownies in a 12" Cast Iron Skillet. This also works well and the brownies bake evenly.

Brownie Tip of the Month

Every few weeks, grocery stores have brand name brownie mixes on sale for $1 or so...Buy a few boxes to keep on hand.

I know there are added ingredients, but if you only eat brownies once a month, no harm done.

Spending $1 for a box and making a pan of brownies (usually all you add is oil and 2 eggs)  is actually
less expensive than making brownies from scratch!

And, there are a couple good mixes out there that are just as good or even better than some home-made brownie recipes!

The recipe to the left is very good, but you can't make a pan for $1!

Melissa & Doug Wooden Bake and Serve Brownies
Bakers, young and old, will enjoy “baking” up a batch of fudge looking wooden brownies.

Six “slice and serve” brownies fit in the baking tray, which comes with an oven mitt.

Decorate the brownies with 18 assorted toppings, cut and serve with the wooden knife and spatula.

The extra toppings can be stored in the cardboard brownie mix box.

For Kids Ages 3-7 . Remember, these are the old fashioned Make Believe Brownies! Remember Mud Pies? These are just a bit neater!
