Recipe for Beet and Onion Salad

Ingredients: 

1/4 cup vinegar
1/2 cup sugar
dash of hot sauce
1 large can beets
Sliced onions, raw

Drain the juice from the can of beets into a pan.  Add  the vinegar, sugar and hot sauce and mix well. Cook  on medium heat until sugar dissolves.  Place the beets and  sliced onions in a casserole or bowl.  Pour the sauce over them and marinate in the refrigerator several hours.  Serve on a bed of lettuce.
