How to Take Care of Books

Prevent books from mold

Place a couple of drops of lavender oil on the book.
A drop inside the cover will also keep the pages smelling fresh. (Please Note: put the
drops on an inconspicuous spot
Staining may occur prefer to place the drops inside the book, such as  the inside of  a cover or on a fly leaf)
A LITTLE LAVENDER OIL GOES  ALONG WAY!
DO NOT OVERUSE

Have a damp room? Want to keep your books from smelling mildew?
Try placing a small electric lamp on the bookcase and keep the light on at all times.
(Low wattage will work)

To discourage silverfish
from crawling all over your books, keep your bookshelves clean.
Clean them with a solution of borax and water. After, sprinkle a little  borax on the back of  the shelves to discourage others.

Keep your books healthy! Remove dust frequently. You can use a vacuum cleaner with a brush or knife like nozzle  attachment and this will help reduce the handling of your books. To give your books a thorough cleaning, wipe each book  with a soft clean cloth and open the book to toss out the dust. Keep books dry . Silverfish love damp paper.

Musty Odor
If your books smell a little musty, place the book
in a plastic baggie with some baking soda. Shake and
leave the book in the bag overnight. Remove book and
wipe off soda.
