Food Fun and Facts Recipe for Old Fashioned Butter Cream Icing

Old Fashioned Butter Cream Icing Recipe

Ingredients:

2 lbs of cold margarine
(I use white oleo from the cake decorating store but you can use regular margarine
if it is not whipped.)

2 lbs. of powdered sugar
2 egg whites(just like they come out of the shell)
1 to 1 1/2 tab. of vanilla, or almond or Kremo extract.

Cut the margarine in small pieces into mixing bowl. Add sugar and everything else.  I have a Kitchen Aid mixer  so I just cover it with a towel and let her rip. You have to beat it at least 4 or 5 minutes and it puffs up so
nice and creamy. Just make sure your margarine is cold. If you don't have a Kitchen Aid mixer do the recipe in half.  It keeps for 2 months in the freezer or 1 week in the  refrigerator.  Recipe is from Mary in Michigan.
